Meet our Coaches
Coach Adam DaCunha, BS, CSCS, NSCA- CPT
Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
Adam grew up in Colonia, New Jersey where he developed a passion for endurance and obstacle course racing with his longest race consisting of 72 miles and 72 obstacles. With this newfound passion Adam became involved with two charity racing teams: Team Believe and Next Step. Both organizations dedicated themselves to spreading awareness about those in the community who needed help and assisted in raising donations.
At the age of 20, Adam embarked on his next adventure and spent five years on active duty in the Army Infantry. During his time in the Army, Adam earned the rank of Sergeant and operated as a squad leader while earning his expert infantry badge and air assault wings. Every success and failure he experienced taught a great lesson about performance psychology and the limitless potential of the human mind and body.
Upon completion of his service, Adam moved to Arizona where he attended Arizona State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Performance Programming. Adam is currently enrolled in ASU’s master’s program studying Strength and Conditioning. Coach DaCunha is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the national strength and conditioning association (NSCA) and specializes in working with tactical populations but has experience working with all ability levels and a passion for helping people exceed their fitness goals.
Coach Thomas Keenan
Head Martial Arts Instructor
Professor Thomas Keenan earned his second-degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu in 2017 from Nova União, under the lineage of Gustavo Dantas in Tempe, Arizona. He has competed at the highest level in Jiu-Jitsu including in the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) tournaments, Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Trials, and super fight organizations such as Fight to Win Pro. Additionally, Thomas has international experience and has collected medals in the United States, Portugal, Brazil, and even Japan. His most notable achievement was winning a world championship in Abu Dhabi in 2017 where he solidified himself as a world class competitor and achieving the only gold medal for his class representing the United States. Thomas still actively competes at a high-level in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and won his most recent fight hosted by the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) via a second-round triangle choke.
The next transition for Thomas was to not only be a world class competitor, but to also grow a dedicated team of passionate practitioners and become a high-level coach. Thomas began his teaching experience as a brown belt and has since only become more passionate about coaching. His new focus is to develop the future of the sport while also teaching that you can overcome any adversity and achieve your goals if you are determined to never quit and continue to persevere. Balancing a career in combat sports while teaching has proven to be both incredibly rewarding and challenging, but Thomas is determined to share his love for the martial arts and his combined knowledge of 18 years with others that wish to unlock their potential as well.
